Matt’s Dream Program’s
The original program was designed to speak
to adults over 21 years of age, but has been expanded to include those under
21, including Elementary School students and parents.
The VIP Program works to bring attention to what happens when you drink and drive and to explain the effects drinking and driving has on the family and friends of someone that is injured or killed.
This is done through the use of audience interaction, by bringing attention to what happens when you drink and drive and to explain the effects drinking and driving has on the family and friends of someone that is injured or killed. The outcome of this experience is to make each person rethink his or her choice to drive while under the influence. Hopefully, we can change the outcome of a person's actions, to save their or someone else's family from going through the pain and suffering.
The program is 25 to 45 minutes in length
and is designed for groups in size from 12 to 1500.
The
School Education Program works with
the classroom teacher. This program is
directed to give teachers an outline of information to have students to write
an Essay, make a Poster, or write and record a Public Service Announcement,
depending on the class level, on the topic of Drinking and Driving with the
help of their parents.
Matt’s Dream was awarded the 2006 Community Advocate Award of Excellence from Project Extra Mile and the 2007 Iowa Governors Award for Volunteer Program of Excellence.
